Founder:

This website was developed and conceived by Martin Logi Obonyo Issa, for convenience sake reduced just to Martin Issa.

Martin Issa was born to Mrs Natalia Ajio of Lowi-Amelo and Mr.Daniel Logi Obonyo of Pa Nyewe,Odrupele. Martin went to Dufele primary school and St.Judes primary school Naguru in Kampala. After visiting Kampala city High school and Moyo S.S. for his secondary education, he sat for Advanced level at Caltec Academy Makerere in Kampala.

Martin Issa (LLM) Studied in the then Soviet Union and graduated in Baku – Azerbaijan in 1987 having majored in International Law.

After graduation he moved to Berlin , Germany where he has been living to the present day. Martin Issa is a keen Pan Africanist and has a passion for cultural self determination of the Madi people.

His inspiration is drawn from the decades-long marginalisation and stagnation of the “Motherland”- the Madi region.

Another urgent need to erect this website was to put Madi on the map of the “Global Village”. It is amazing to note that eight people out of ten at any time on the streets of Kampala would not have the faintest idea where Madi is!

Even artists who intend to sing supposedly “all-accommodating “ songs about the various peoples of Uganda often miss Madi, Moyo or Adjumyni in their lyrics.

We very much bear the hope that this website shall decampaign and reverse this negligence and exclusion. A very special apeal is directed to the address of Madi intelectuals and academia to pick up the challenges mentioned and identified in the aims and objectives. Students and the youth are best placed to agitate and propagate the sentimaents of Madiness and we look forward to your support and input.

The main aims and objectives of the website “ama-madi” is to bring madis on both side of the border together With the website we aim to avail Madi people with a platform and podium to among other things;-Facilitate the exchange of ideas.

  • Consolidation of our common heritage

  • Rejuvenation of the Madi Language, Culture and Tradition.

  • Address issues and strategies of general development of the Madi people and the homeland.

The website shall serve in reviving the image and re-instating the dignity of the Madi people.

Promoting a new “self awareness in the Global Village”.

A very important element in the aims of the web is the re-animation of the Madis living in the diaspora.

  • The website takes upon itself the following:- To create an information network on the Madi region for the Madis not only in the diaspora but also those scattered and strewn all over Uganda and other regions of Africa.

  • Offer information and updates about the Madi region (Adjumani and Moyo districts).Exchange views and ideas among each other for the common good of the region.

  • Use the Internet as a forum to reunite families, link up old friends and regenerate the feeling of community between each other.Involve the youth in the development process by giving them herewith a contemporary medium and space to express themselves freely.

www.ama-madi.com is an independent, none partisan non–profit, community oriented website which we would like to see developed into a project.

Principles:

www.ama-madi.com shall be open and welcoming to all Madis, their families, friends and all peoples of good will from all over the world. A pivotal principle in dealing with us and each other is RESPECT. Respect for self, others and their opinions!
